homemade taco seasoning

I LOVE Mexican food! Burritos, enchiladas, tacos, nachos, if it has a tortilla, beans, meat, cheese and sauce then I'll eat it. Everyday- all you have to do is change the tortilla and its a new meal haha.

Since I make Mexican food so often, I decided to quit buying premade seasoning and just make my own. It saves money, I know exactly what's going into my food and I can eliminate the extra sodium.

I use the recipe below for all my ground beef and when I make chicken in the crockpot. This version is mild enough for the kids to eat, but you can adjust the heat in it to fit your family's needs.

Ingredients:
  • 1 Tbs chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

Directions:
  1. Add all spices to a bowl or spice jar and mix.
  2. Use 1-2 Tbs of seasoning per pound of meat.

I usually double or triple this recipe since I use it at least once a week.
